Diamond Joe Cafe & Saloon opened last week in Crawford under the ownership/management of Tami Carver, a fifth-generation Crawford resident. The restaurant is located on Hwy. 92 in the former Boardwalk restaurant.
Tami and her crew spent two months freshening up the restaurant space, and diners will enjoy their meal in a casual Western atmosphere. Carver is serving up good down-home cooking, including steaks and chops, Navajo tacos with housemade green and red chilies, handcut French fries, fried chicken and more. Almost everything that is served is made from scratch, and she has a baker on staff who prepares fresh pies and dinner rolls.
A full service bar will open Saturday, just in time for Pioneer Days.
Carver is a descendent of the first Diamond Joe, who ran cattle on Crystal Creek in the late 1880s. Carver's family still owns some of the land Diamond Joe originally ranched on. She has worked in the restaurant industry her whole life, she said, as a waitress, cook and manager.
Diamond Joe's is open Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
