Jaquita Watters Photography

Born in the small town of Dumas in 1957 thereafter moving to Lubbock, Texas until my parents moved us to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1961. Attending several schools in Colorado Springs area, high school at Ellicott School in 1975 along with Cosmetology school.

I met and married my husband, Chriss Watters September 22, 1975, after moving to different cities around Colorado we landed back in Colorado Springs, CO as  I worked along side my mother, Betty Norrid in her restaurant, Betty’s Biscuit Hill Cafe until moving to Lake City, Co in 1987. Chriss’s job brought us to Crawford, Co in 1989 were we raised our young family. I had a small pocket camera in 2002 taking it on trips, entering some pictures in the local Delta County Fair. Receiving several ribbons and awards. Through the years I continued my employment in the surrounding area.

I met a new local wildlife photographer in 2009 who inspired me as she shared with me many different areas of photography, equipment, etc.  My passion for nature photography grew as I continued to learn my craft, teaching myself all about different techniques, equipment, software. I decided to purchased a used digital pro-camera, saving up for my equipment one piece at a time.

In 2015 I was able to add more pro photography equipment to my collection. At the age of 57, I decided to retire from the working world along with my husband, turning my attention to my passion, “ Nature Photography”.

I’ve had positive responses to my high quality printed landscapes and wildlife images. I have been accepted in area galleries around Colorado, Ouray, Delta, Hotchkiss, Colorado.  Focusing on my photography, looking ahead on producing high quality prints to furthering my passion in nature photography.

Fall of 2017 I was encouraged to start my own business. I was unsure what to call my new business, everyone wanted me to stay with my name, Jaquita Watters Photography, LLC.  Find me on Facebook. Saddle Mountain Studio - Fine Art by James Dawson

38281 Saddle Mountain Lane - Crawford, CO 81415 - (970) 921-3122

Upon retiring after a thirty-six year career with the US Forest service, Jim and his wife, Carol moved to Crawford Colorado on the western slope.  They established ‘Saddle Mountain Studio,’  inspired by the dominating view of Saddle Mountain from his studio window. Combining his early love of oil painting and a career blessed with the opportunity for week long pack trips, time “in the saddle,” and  business conducted around campfires and the experience of some of the most spectacular western scenery imaginable.

Jim’s approach to art can be summed up in the following statement…”our way of life in the west and its integral interaction with nature is my inspiration for my paintings. I do my best to capture a particular moment that brings back my memories of people and places. Hopefully this also inspires and gives pleasure to those who see my art.”
